3 Reasons Why User Generated Content Is the Future

Big statement, and might be a bit obvious for brand thats are already utilising UGC as a main content production activity. But let's break down why!

What is UGC?

User generated content (UGC) is any content—text, videos, images, etc.—that is created and published by users of a product or service. In the past, businesses have been reluctant to embrace UGC because they worried about losing control of their brand's message.

However, UGC is an incredibly powerful marketing tool that can't be ignored. Here's why:

  1. UGC is more trustworthy than traditional advertising.

In a world where consumers are bombarded with advertising messages from all sides, it can be hard to cut through the noise. UGC provides a much-needed breath of fresh air because it's transparent and honest. When users see positive reviews and recommendations from their peers, they're more likely to trust the product or service.

  1. UGC is more cost-effective than traditional advertising.

Creating high-quality advertising costs money—lots of money. UGC can be a cost-effective alternative because businesses don't have to spend anything (or very little!) to get it. All they need to do is create a platform for users to share their thoughts, and the UGC will start rolling in. Of course, businesses will need to moderate the content to make sure it aligns with their brand's message, but that's a relatively small price to pay compared to the cost of traditional advertising.

  1. UGC drives brand loyalty.

When customers feel like they're part of a community, they're more likely to stick around for the long haul. That's exactly what UGC does—it helps businesses build relationships with their customers by giving them a platform to share their thoughts and feelings about the product or service. As those relationships deepen, so does customer loyalty.

When a brand then promotes or shares the customers content, there is a deeper loyalty, excitement and sense on community built. Their content is centre stage, evoking pride.

There's no question about it—user generated content is the future of marketing. Businesses that don't embrace it will be left behind as their competitors leap ahead.
