Happy Tuesday ya'll!
Today I am fan-girling over email marketing, specifically Klaviyo and the benefits it has for brand building alongside short term revenue generation. A win-win right? 💯
But what do your customers want to hear about? What emails should you send?
Here are my top 5 email types for newsletters
- Product updates and launches: Keep your subscribers informed about new products, services, and features.
- Promotions and deals: Give subscribers exclusive access to promotions and discounts to encourage them to make a purchase. Top tip: Launch your offers to email subscribers first, before they go live to the general public
- Educational content: Provide helpful tips, advice, and resources related to your products or industry.
- User-generated content: Share stories, photos, and experiences from your customers to create a sense of community and engagement.
- Industry news and trends: Keep your subscribers up-to-date on the latest news and trends in your industry to position yourself as a thought leader.
If you are sending out 1 email a week, that's your lot!
The trick here is to see what works, and what doesn't. Understand your key metrics and what you want your email to do.
- Open Rate (OR) How many people opened your email
- Click Through Rate (CTR) How many people clicks from your email to your website
- Conversion Rate (CR) How many people opened your email, clicked through to your website and then purchased something
AND DON'T FORGET TO TELL YOUR CUSTOMER WHAT YOU WANT FROM THEM.
Your 'call to action' (CTA) must be prominent whether it is 'click here', 'buy now' or 'read more'. Tell them what you want them to do. Please. Don't. Forget.
Okay, so now you're a pro a newsletters, it's time to move onto automation.
Seems scary 👻
It's not, just treat them the same as a newsletter, but then sit back and relax as the system does all the work for you.
My top 5 automated email flows for an ecommerce business
- Welcome Email: This flow welcomes new subscribers and introduces them to your brand, products, and services. It may also include a discount code or a special offer to encourage the subscriber to make their first purchase.
- Abandoned Cart Email: This flow reminds customers of items they left in their shopping cart and encourages them to complete their purchase. It may also include a discount code or free shipping to incentivise them to come back and buy.
- Post-Purchase Email: This flow thanks customers for their purchase and provides them with information about their order, including shipping details and estimated delivery date. It may also ask for feedback or offer a discount on their next purchase.
- Upsell/Cross-sell Email: This flow recommends complementary products to customers based on their previous purchases. It can help increase the average order value and encourage repeat purchases.
- Re-engagement Email: This flow targets inactive subscribers and encourages them to re-engage with your brand. It may include a special offer or ask for feedback to understand why they stopped engaging with your business.
